Clearing Up Myths About Facility and therapy dog Training
Start by using our free Therapy Dog Suitability Checklist to see if your dog is a good fit. Then, you can book a free pre-assessment session with our qualified trainers. They'll professionally evaluate your dog's suitability and guide you through the next steps. The full certification process includes theory sessions, temperament and handler knowledge assessments, a facility assessment, and a basic obedience test.
We aim to keep our certification costs transparent and affordable. The price varies based on the type of certification you need:
Volunteer-based General Facility Therapy Dogs: $495 AUD
Personal, Corporate, or Schools Therapy Dogs: approx. $895 AUD
These costs are the same whether you choose our in-person or virtual training programmes.
We offer flexible Therapy Dog program options to fit your schedule:
Therapy Dog Teams Certification Sessions
In-person group programmes: Held at our Cheltenham facility over two 1.5-hour evening sessions, plus a facility assessment.
Online instructional workshops: Conducted live via phone or Zoom (1-1.5 hours per session), with video submissions for assessments. We also provide extra YouTube videos to support your journey.
Personalised Owner Lead Service Dog Training and Certification with Public Access Testing
Emotion Support Dog Programs

Our services are available Australia-wide, so you can get certified from anywhere in the country.
A qualified therapy dog from Paws For Support can work in many different settings, including:
Schools, workplaces, and hospitals.
Aged care facilities and occupational therapy settings.
With counsellors and first responders (e.g., Police, paramedics, SES).
For personal therapy.
